Plug-in hybrid
The Touareg eHybrid1 is a plug-in hybrid that combines an electric motor and a TSI petrol engine. When the battery is sufficiently charged, you start in virtually silent electric mode, producing zero local carbon emissions. If you activate hybrid mode, you combine both drives for maximum system output of 280 kW (381 PS). A special highlight in this mode is the interplay between the navigation system and drive management. When you enter your destination into the navigation system and start route navigation whilst in hybrid mode, the combustion engine and electric motor work in perfect harmony with each other for the entire duration of your journey.

Head-up display
Being able to check important information while also keeping an eye on the road: this is a major advantage of the optional head-up display. Part of the windscreen becomes a projection surface that can display your speed, messages from your driver assist systems or navigation instructions. The projection itself is still clearly legible, even when light is shining directly onto the windscreen. And you can switch off the display at any time if you no longer need it.*

Keyless Access
The Keyless Access comfort package does the heavy lifting when your hands are full. It allows you to open and close the rear lid without the need for any contact. A simple foot movement under the rear of the Touareg is all it takes to trigger the sensor to do it for you. In addition, the rear lid also closes electrically – at the press of a button.*

Electric power latching system
Doors left ajar can also be closed without any physical effort using the optional power latching system. An electric motor draws them in and closes then gently and securely.  Ideal in parking spaces where there is limited space to get the necessary momentum.*

All-wheel steering
With the optional all-wheel steering, the rear wheels are turned to an angle opposite to the front wheels up to 37 km/h. The turning circle is reduced by more than one metre as a result. At a higher speed, the rear wheels are turned in the same direction as the front wheels. The Touareg is therefore more agile and more stable when changing lanes.*

Air suspension
The Touareg lets you decide what type of driving experience you want. Depending on the driving mode, the optional air suspension lifts the vehicle to a ground clearance of 258 mm. The rear of the vehicle can also be lowered by 40 mm for convenient loading or unloading.*

Off-road package
Enhance the qualities of the Touareg with the optional off-road package*. Alongside seven standard driving modes, GRAVEL and SAND can also be used to adapt the engine and gear settings to the conditions.
The following features also ensure that the Touareg excels off-road:

• Greater protection for the radiator, battery, underbody and fuel tank
• The range is greater since the tank holds up to 90 litres of fuel
• Two towing eyes for other vehicles are provided so you can mount one in front and one at the rear when driving through difficult terrain
• The standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive moves each wheel independently

Active roll stabilisation
Active stabilisers on the front and rear axle reduce lateral tilt when cornering. They are electromechanical rather than hydraulic. The Touareg thus responds sensitively to steering, even at low speeds. The optional system can prevent understeer during more dynamic cornering: the front wheels push the vehicle less forcefully into the outer edge of the bend⁠*

Trailer coupling and towing capacity
The Touareg can tow up to 3.5 tonnes, so for example a boat or horse trailer. The optional towing bracket is concealed under the rear and automatically folds out and locks in place at the touch of a button when needed. And because manoeuvring with a trailer is not that easy, the optional Trailer Assist can help you when using the towing bracket.*

Equipment lines
R-Line
The R-Line equipment line is ideal if you want to lend your Touareg an even sportier feel with 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels, bumper in R styling, pedals in brushed stainless steel and sill panel mouldings with R-Line logo. And to improve the driving experience even more, there’s the heatable multifunction steering wheel in leader with paddles.⁠*

Background lighting
The background lighting uses indirect light to create a pleasant atmosphere in the interior. The illuminated decorative trims create a unique distribution of light. The background lighting is available optionally with 30 different colours. The lower and upper area of the interior can thus be illuminated in different colours independently of each other. If two different colours are selected, the main colour is adopted additionally for the displays. You can therefore create completely different lighting scenarios depending on your mood.⁠*

Take a seat, relax and enjoy. The ergoComfort seats⁠* don’t just look great. They’re great for your back, too.

• Centre seat panels and inner seat bolsters in leather
• 18-way adjustment with 4-way lumbar support and electrically adjustable seat and backrest side bolsters. Optionally available with memory function.
• Optionally available with seat ventilation
• Or optionally available as a massage seat with seat ventilation and eight different massage programmes

Leather packages
Two high-quality leather packages are available to you optionally for your Touareg: Puglia and Varenna.⁠*

Puglia
Sustainably tanned with olive leaf extract⁠* , the Puglia leather package conveys an exceptionally elegant look and feel in the interior. Piping in ceramique and quilted contrast stitching in the shoulder area and on the insides of the doors lend the seats a special charm.

Varenna
The seats in the Varenna leather package have a diamond pattern and come in different colours, such as brown (Florence), medium-brown (Raven), beige (Atacama) and light grey (Mistral).⁠*

Panoramic sunroof
Huge dimensions for big impressions. The optional * tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof covers almost the entire roof and also offers passengers in the rear a virtually unrestricted view of the sky. A little extra fresh air? The front half of the roof opens at the press of a button or extends fully over the rear part.

R-Line “Exterior Black Style” design package
With the “Exterior Black Style” design package available optionally⁠*  for the Touareg R-Line, you can now take the R-Line look even further. Thanks to distinctive black accents, you’ll leave a lasting impression – even when driving by. This is also underscored by the 20-inch Nevada wheel rims in black, though additional rims are available on request. The package includes the following equipment elements:

Sound system DYNAUDIO
The Touareg is transformed into a mobile concert hall with the optionally available⁠* DYNAUDIO Consequence sound system:

• 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound from 14 loudspeakers installed in the interior
• Four treble loudspeakers, two mid-range loudspeakers, four bass loudspeakers and two effect loudspeakers in the rear
• One centre loudspeaker in the front and a subwoofer in the luggage compartment
• 730-watt power amplifier

Area View
Manoeuvring in the busy city centre, in a multi-storey car park or in rough terrain: there are many situations in which drivers could use a few extra eyes. With the optional Area View you get them in the form of four cameras that capture the area around the vehicle and transfer helpful information to the screen of the infotainment system. For example, you can see kerbs or parking markings better and even look around the corner.⁠*

ACC and Front Assist
Adaptive Cruise Control ACC helps you to maintain a previously set maximum speed⁠1  and preset distance to the vehicle in front⁠* . In conjunction with a navigation system, Adaptive Cruise Control ACC is extended by predictive cruise control and cornering assistance. 
ACC can therefore adapt the vehicle’s speed to the relevant speed limits and road layouts (bends, roundabouts etc.).⁠*

In combination with the automatic gearbox, you can remain more relaxed while driving through traffic jams and stop-and-go traffic.⁠*

The standard Front Assist emergency braking system with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring can warn you of critical situations involving pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles. It will even brake automatically in emergency situations.⁠*

Front Cross Traffic Assist
Who is not familiar with the situation: straining your eyes as you slowly approach unclear exits or junctions that are difficult to see. The optional Front Cross Traffic Assist can help you to cope with such situations. If another vehicle crosses your path, the system can alert you to this visually and acoustically using radar technology up to your own vehicle speed of 30 km/h – and can trigger emergency braking up to your own vehicle speed of 10 km/h.⁠*
