Wider, longer and flatter – with its low drag coefficient, in the ninth generation it is still the unmistakable Passat. The all-rounder now has an overall sporty design with Tornado lines, a striking front, broad shoulders – and the bright red Volkswagen logo at the rear, which is emphasised by a light strip.

In two equipment lines (Business, R-Line) and with numerous optional packages, you can customise your Passat even more.

The gear lever is now positioned behind the steering wheel and makes space in the centre console for a bigger stowage compartment, which even your tablet or laptop will fit into.

Twice as good.
The plug-in hybrid delivers combined system power thanks to the mix of electric motor and TSI petrol engine: for short trips, such as in city traffic, you can drive in all-electric mode. For greater range without charging stops, the plug-in hybrid switches automatically to the petrol engine – depending on the power level and equipment variant with a maximum pure electric range of up to 133 km.

With numerous massage functions, the optional ergoActive plus seats with leather or ArtVelours covers make even longer journeys an entirely relaxed experience:

You and your front passenger can optionally enjoy a 10-chamber pressure point massage – right up to the shoulders. With its automatic seat ventilation and air conditioning, you can heat and ventilate the seat cushion and backrest separately (depending on the equipment line and package).

More storage volume. More options.
The well thought-out space concept provides you up to 1,920 litres in luggage compartment volume. That’s 40 litres more compared to the predecessor model (with folded down rear bench seat it’s even up to 140 litres).

The optionally available Easy Open & Close function makes loading and unloading especially easy for you – the luggage compartment lid can be opened and closed with a simple foot movement under the boot.

The optional Discover infotainment package lets you get in and use the navigation directly – without any detours. Speakers front and rear provide you with a better sound experience.
Connect your mobile phone wirelessly via Bluetooth, stream your favourite podcasts and playlists from the Internet and enjoy digital DAB+ reception.
You can even charge your laptop via the USB-C connections with up to 45 W charging capacity.

Free hands for greater comfort.
Just leave the car key in your pocket: Thanks to Keyless Access, your Passat unlocks and locks the doors automatically as soon as you approach or move away from the vehicle – all without touching the door handles. You can even use the infotainment system to choose which doors to lock or unlock. The engine can be started at the press of a button, again with no need for a key.

The Easy Open/Close function allows the boot to be opened and closed by moving your foot slightly underneath the rear bumper – which is practical if you have your hands full.

Memory function for Park Assist
The parking assist system can be extended optionally with the memory function, making difficult parking situations easier for you: your vehicle can store individual parking processes and carry them out independently – ideal for garages and carports.

Front Assist
The emergency braking system Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring can warn you of potential accidents involving pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles and, if necessary, automatically apply the emergency brakes for you.

Dynamic Light Assist
The optional Dynamic Light Assist can prevent other road users from being dazzled by your main beam headlight. The system can detect oncoming vehicles and vehicles ahead and mask them out from your main beam area. Dynamic Light Assist can also help to reduce dazzling from reflective traffic signs. On motorways, Dynamic Light Assist can detect vehicles in the oncoming lane and mask them out from the main beam area.
When driving in built-up areas, the system also automatically switches from main beam to dipped beam. This means that you can drive for longer and more often with the main beam on. Streets are thus better illuminated and obstacles can be detected earlier.
