Every lettering pays homage to the Volkswagen icon

A total of four raised letterings adorn the “FINAL EDITION” of the Touareg R eHybrid, emphasising that a true icon is celebrating its dignified farewell. The “FINAL EDITION” lettering is visible on the illuminated door sill trims as soon as you get in. Added to this is the laser-engraved embossing on the rear door trim. The exclusivity continues inside. Elegant, tactile lettering on the gear lever and another signature – stylishly embedded in the illuminated decor – give this special edition a real aura of prestige.

New front, sides and rear end design

The front of the Touareg R eHybrid gets its iconic look from the HD matrix LED headlights with six lenses each and special signature light. A front grille with horizontal light strip rounds off the look from the front.

The interior of the Touareg R eHybrid shines with illuminated premium look decorative elements. A further highlight is the aluminium decorative trim, perfectly complementing the lighting. Soft door trims and a soft centre console cover with double seams, among other features, ensure a top quality look. The Innovision Cockpit is equipped with a big 38.1 cm display. It is standard with the MIB3 TI-Infotainment in all equipment features.

Maximum dynamics – R-style

The V6 turbo engine always works per kick-down and with sufficiently charged battery it is also supported by the all-electric power as a “boost”. Maximum system power of 340 kW (462 hp) plus maximum system torque of 700 Nm – equals maximum dynamics.

"E mode" and "Hybrid"

With a sufficiently charged battery the Touareg R always starts in the all-electric “E mode”. For more power and speeds exceeding 140 km/h, the V6 TSI kicks in automatically. It works the other way round in “Hybrid” mode: If required, the driver uses the kick-down function to additionally demand the all-electric power as a “boost”. 

“Trailer”-assisted manoeuvring

As a towing vehicle, the Touareg R eHybrid also offers high comfort: with the electrically folding ball coupling and the optional trailer manoeuvring system “Trailer Assist”. It is therefore the first SUV model with a plug-in hybrid drive and a manoeuvring assistant for trailers. “Trailer Assist” manoeuvres the vehicle and trailer backwards into the desired position almost automatically*. For beginners as well as drivers that only use trailers infrequently, the assistant creates palpable relief.
